Robust Biocomposite Film of Polylactic Acid and Ferroferric Oxide as a Radar Absorbing Material

The polymer/ferroferric oxide (Fe3O4) foam and aerogel composites generally exhibit superior radar absorptivity performance. However, these have poor mechanical thermal properties. This study manufactured a polylactic acid (PLA)/Fe3O4 bio-composite evaluated the absorptivity, thermal, properties of radar-absorbing material. were prepared using solvent casting method to mix PLA Fe3O4 at varying concentrations, followed by evaporation, oven drying, hot pressing into film. Thermogravimetric analysis showed that decomposition temperature PLA/Fe3O4-5% composite occurred around 306 °C, which shifted lower PLA. addition 25 wt.% improved tensile modulus neat from 2.92 3.55 GPa. vector network analyzer demonstrated 25% reflection loss –5.17 -25.83 dB thickness 3 mm, with energy absorbed 99.74% frequency position 10.58 GHz. These results PLA/Fe3O4 great potential in practical applications.
